We walked under the shadows of trees
Under city lights in the cold breeze
A concrete mile of hesitation
My inferno lay in trepidation
I was only trying to see
If there was such a thing as “we”
I never knew that I could infect myself
With the potent wonder of the not-transpired
Just another one of those ailments
Collected at stops toward Neverland
I dreamed you into being in a matter of breaths
As I heard the rustling of leaves and a serene bird’s nest
As fireflies glow in the tall grass
Greenery has turned to blackness
I ponder all the lights extinguished
As these hopes and wants are now relinquished
We keep meeting like this
I have known you forever
Regardless of your face
Or the colour of your hair
To taste the fruits of your lair
To find my solace in there
I must transcend us
It only takes one candle
To illuminate twinkling gemstones
And warm Autumnal embraces
To dry the dampness of bones
I hold out for the time
Not sure it will ever come
It can be a spark of any kind
My first embodied one
To have done all these things
I don’t expect to escape unscathed
As I walk into my wounds defiant
Meadows extend green and vibrant
Then I look up at the stars
And find they burn out too
I enter the spectacle
Knowing that I’ll go
Connection
I don’t curse your escape
All the forms you take
Mirages with names
I’m the one who needs to change
To shape a different fate
Careful is the man whose love is love itself
Who you are and how you are
And why are you the way you love
Ephemeral emeralds
To give and receive
As I shed my scales I am still
As my heart falls into place
